National Homeschool Tennis Open
Tulsa Oklahoma – Fall, 2011
To our fellow homeschool athletic organizations:
We are putting together a National Championship Tennis Open in the Fall of 2011. This introductory note is to gauge interest from the home school community. If you are interested please ping back to me at Tennis@NOAHjags.org. You may be surprised how many tennis players are in your home school community that would be interested in an event such as this.
Our "Tennis Open" will use a team format to select Boys and Girls National Champions in age groups of 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. Each tennis team will require 4 - 6 players and will consist of the following:
  • #1 Line Single Player
  • #2 Line Single Player
(Individual participants are encouraged and will be placed on Team USA teams)
  • #1 Line Doubles Pair
  • #2 Line Doubles Pair
Points are earned for the team as each, in the above lineup, wins matches. We will begin the Open with pool play (made up of three teams) to seed teams into Gold, Silver and Bronze Championship flights. Upon seeding the flights Championship play will commence will all teams playing matches to determine first through last place finishes. At least four to five matches are expected making the trip to Tulsa worthwhile. The Open would begin on Monday extending through Wednesday or Thursday (depending on the number of teams participating).
Tulsa is beautiful in the fall and we encourage all too seriously consider participation.
LaFortune Tennis Center in Tulsa will be the host location. LTC is a wonderful tennis club that has recently been expanded. See the attached link for a video of the facilities. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWlQVEEp_lg. Tulsa is a large metro area centrally located in the United States accessible to many locations within a one day drive.
    I would like a response that contains contact email and telephone numbers plus three things;
  1. Yes, we can probably pull a team together, or
  2.  I know of a couple of students that might be interested.
  3.  No, we are not planning to participate.
Of course, there are many details to work out and your response will help our planning team sort through these. Should there be sufficient interest, we will firm up the particulars and communicate back with you as soon as possible.
Tulsa is beautiful in the fall and we encourage all too seriously consider participation. This is an opportunity to travel with your tennis players, building memories of team participation in a sport that they can “play for life”! And by the way, for those that worry about getting behind in studies, a brand new library is on the premises (shown in the video) where your students can keep up on their work between matches!!
Please feel free to forward to other home school groups.
Thanks for your time!
